Reread 10/17/2018: I love all of the characters, especially Celie, Lulath, Pogue, and the Castle! The adventures they go on are great! 5 stars.

Honestly, Wednesdays was a let-down after Tuesdays. While Tuesdays introduced all the characters and focused on their interactions and felt original and new, Wednesdays barely mentioned anyone outside of Celie and the griffin she found, and didn't introduce the new characters in the same way the first book had, where it paid a lot of attention to characters and made them feel real. It also isn't a very self-contained book, but instead felt like it ended at an awkward point.

While there was some excitement in the novel, it overall didn't really seem to mesh with the first one, and nearly seemed like it was from a different series. I think that Jessica Day George tends to have issues writing series, however. I enjoy her first books almost universally, but the later books in series always seem rushed and sort of hodge-podge, which is really discouraging because Tuesdays? Was hands down a favorite, and I'm disappointed in the sequel. I'll probably read the third book all the same, but my expectations have been shot.

It...just wasn't as good as the first book, and that's sort of sad.

EDIT: I think the thing that bugs me about Jessica's series are that she seems to get bored of them and sort of half-asses the books after the first one, actually, if that makes sense! It's something she could stand to work on.

This was a wonderful book full of mystery, adventure, and magical creatures. Those just happen to be some of my favorite things to read about. The visitor to the castle creeped me out a little, and I got a little frustrated with the characters for not realizing he was evil sooner. But, all in all, I think that this was a really good book.
