I don't read very much nonfiction but this was a heartwrenching and critical look at what it means to be black and gay, the the concept of masculinity as a whole. I really enjoyed the format and the culmination was very effective.

Broome has a great voice. I love when I can be immersed in a memoir, can envision it.

A needed memoir in a space heavily dominated by white voices. I enjoyed that it was read by the author and was an important look into one black , queer experience.

The heaviest, rawest memoir I’ve ever read — and I think the most important. The audiobook was exquisitely done and moved me to tears. I am in awe of Brian Broome.
