the plot started out interesting and tense once you find out what happened to the main character, but after about halfway into the book the story loses some of its thriller-esque qualities. the story becomes more of a mystery and it becomes a little ridiculous when it comes to the interactions between two individuals. i did enjoy reading about their relationship and seeing it develop but that was not meant to be the focus of this book. there are some very heavy trigger warnings for this book and i liked the main character but wasn’t overly attached to her. there is a plot twist that i did not see coming that kept the ending a satisfying one for me not to rate it a flat 2 stars.

This is one of the most gut wrenching books I have ever read. Just about every twist and turn absolutely wrecked me, and my heart broke for Annie with every chapter.

I'd give anything to read it for the first time again, ngl.
