First book of 2024!

In many ways this book reminded me of Paul Tremblay's Pallbearers Club, but if it had been executed well.

I suppose that is because there is this untrustworthy, mostly unlikable, but somewhat sympathetic pov character. But somehow in this one I just had more fun reading.

If I'm honest I couldn't put it down! Very compelling mystery.

Swanson continues to be a solid mystery author. Although I continue to wonder why he seems to be obsessed with
suicide and killers killing themselves
. I pretty much enjoyed this one. I sadly didn't see
him killing his wife coming
and didn't think too hard
about who the other killer was
, so was shocked about it. I enjoyed it for the fun ride I found it to be.

Surprising twist to a mystery book. I immediately suspected the suspect.

This was a mystery unlike any other I've read. Who is Charlie and why is he doing this? Are all of the murders done by Charlie? The twists towards the end will blow your mind.

Good luck trying to resist the urge to add the 8 murder books mentioned to your TBR list! I failed that challenge.

Slow burn took a star away but really it was a great story!

It was a good book. The beginning was intriguing and had me wanting to continue but it wasn’t a strong compulsion. It wasn’t until at least halfway through that I didn’t want to stop reading and wanted to know what we were going to find out next. And bonus, there are some good recommendations for books throughout.
