Cute characters but no effort was made to make them sound like or act like Regency characters

Trigger warnings: death of a parent (in the past). I think that's all??

This was free and I got exactly what I paid for. This was more than a little ridiculous but also surprisingly fun. The characters were entertaining and the writing was pretty solid. There were several quite funny elements that I didn't see coming. And honestly? I'm always a sucker for a roadtrip novel, whether it be set in the present or 200 years ago, and I'm legitimately considering picking up the next book in the series if only to find out what REALLY happened to that particular couple.

This story has some definite laugh-out-loud moments, especially scenes with Georgiana's mom and dad. Charlotte might as well have been a blank canvas. I know that the next story in the series is about her but there's nothing to indicate what sort of person Charlotte is to intrigue me to continue reading. There were inconsistencies in the story and some parts felt rushed and contrary to where I perceived Hamish and Georgiana were in their relationship. It felt like some of their interactions were getting ahead of their personal growth as characters and a couple.

I would like to thank the author for a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Hamish's brother Callum is marrying a commoner rather than the earl's daughter he is engaged to. If this goes ahead his family will lose everything. He will stop at nothing to stop the wedding.

Georgianna's sister is marrying callum and she has never seen her so happy. She will do anything to ensure her sister's happiness, even if it means she has to go through her soon-to-be brother in law.

Full of Blythe's charm and research, I really enjoyed this story.
