I didn't realize how starved I was for a book of such depth and beauty. I badly wanted to markup the pages with my thoughts, adding call-outs and highlights to turns-of-phrase that made me rethink life. But - this copy belongs to the library so I settled for a million post-it notes that I transcribed into a blue notebook, before the due date of course. Mr. Stafford, if you ever read my tiny review, please know that although it was "rain on a boxcar that brought the old man to God", it was this collection that described the center of my soul that "gets lonesome for the part of me that only happens there". Quotes are his, gushing about them is mine. I finished this book sitting outside next to my salal plant. If you know, you know.
