Liked being able to read the play as the mini-series was playing on ABC.

I wish this was a novel and not just a TV movie.

Storm of the Century

What I Loved:
-The suspense is classic King. I didn’t see the ending coming, I didn’t see all the deaths.
-Good vs evil is my FAVORITE King theme and it’s well done here.
-Mike is a solid main character. He’s the best in all of us.

Who Should Read It:
-King fans (Fans of “The Stand” specifically)
-Thriller fans
-People who like their thrillers to include a biblical undertone
-Readers who can handle screenplays (!)

I watched the miniseries as it aired in 1999 and found it to be highly predictable and pretty boring. Since the screenplay is basically identical, that opinion hasn't changed.

True terror from beginning till the end. No hope in this particular book. Can't recommend it to whom I love.
Couldn't tell which was scariest: the storm, the demon or island society's own darkness. Maybe the last.
There's a typical for Stephen King juxtaposition of good guy sheriff (local policeman) vs asshole politician (the mayor).
And taste of great bitterness at the end of the novel.
