Prose poems and beautiful artwork tell the story of Alicia Alonso, a prima ballerina from Cuba who lost part of her sight at age 19, but kept dancing well into her 70s. It's a fascinating story and the book contains some great back matter. The prose poems didn't do much for me, though, and I think I would have preferred it as straight prose. This would make an excellent addition to units on Latin American history, women's history, or the arts.
