Started off slow so it took some time to get through it but once the momentum picked up it became hard to put down. Definitely the beginnings of a strong fantasy trilogy. Really rich world and character building, and the found family aspect in it is really sweet and heartwarming!!

I finished this one feeling like I'd done battle with it, it was a bit of everything, a lot of worldbuilding in a lot of pages, a lot of characters and backstories and connection. I'll look for the sequel for sure.
