Honestly for a collection of short stories, I wasn't expecting to have e so many wtf and ph np not this moments which was very cool to see. However the book deals with some heavy themes and is not suitable for everyone

Yeah sorry y’all I don’t think I like Augustina Bazterrica’s writing. I liked this book even less than Tender is the Flesh. The stories weren’t very compelling, and I felt pretty bored for most of them, and even though they were short, I found myself wishing they were over sooner. And despite this being a horror/thriller short story collection, the only one that even remotely scared me was The Solitary Ones, the last story in the book. My other favorites were The Wolf’s Breath and The Slowness of Pleasure, because they felt more like long form poetry. My absolute least favorites were all the rest, but specifically Candy Pink and Teicher vs. Nietzsche. But even though I didn’t like this book, I will definitely try reading more short story collections, because I am not ready to give up on them yet.

Based on for my personal enjoyment and rating of these stories, I hated it. 

This book is filled with incomplete stories and trauma porn (specifically of women and children ). I guess if you want a really bad time, go ahead and read it.

Had this actually done something to explore the difficult themes within each story, maybe it would have been better. What it did was use really disturbing concepts to barely touch the surface of the story while never making it feel like there was truly commentary or a sense of completion. Also the SA the children went through was entirely unnecessary, even less so when the vile nature of the topic was barely even touched upon each time.

Compared to the horror of Tender is the Flesh, this is tame. The stories are grotesque yes, but some are just plain weird. The second-person narration though? Slay.
