A whole new Riverdale
Wow.
Talk about good.
I have always read Archie comics since I was a kid.
This new take on the characters is amazing.
Love seeing them in a more relevant current style. Can't wait to see where this series goes as the Riverdale TV show continues.

- Plot- or character-driven? A mix
- Strong character development? N/A
- Loveable characters? N/A
- Diverse cast of characters? Yes
- Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

Engaging like the series
I rated it 5 star coz it deserved that. It is the story of the four main characters of Riverdale just before the premiere episode, what happened to them individually. How they changed, the city changed by the murder of Jasson Blosom but not just that, Archie dealt with adult issues, Betty with her own freedom, Veronica's life was changed from okay to lie, And lastly Jughead who not just became more real life person but only he observed the city and his life to be changed by time.
This book is for them who are interested in what happened to the four characters before the 4th of July.
It's the same writer of the CW series. So go ahead and read it.

This comic serves as prequel to the CW's Riverdale tv series. I would say it actually makes more sense to read this comic after watching the first season of Riverdale though.
There is one chapter dedicated to Archie's summer, one chapter for Betty's summer, one chapter for Veronica's summer, and one chapter for Jughead's summer. All of the stories are somewhat light-hearted in the vein that they don't delve too deep into anything.
Betty and Veronica have the most interesting chapters as these scenes weren't depicted in the show, but Archie and Jughead's chapters are honestly a little blah.
The art style is fine and easy enough to follow. Chapters with Archie seem to focus a little too much on Archie's full body, which makes some of his panels a little weird, but other than that it was a pretty normal spread.

A good refresher of the prologue stories leading up to the CW show.
It was also neat to read this on my tiny old iPhone with the Hoopla app, to skip from panel to panel. Nice.
