Cyberpunk, starvation cults (what the hell is a starvation cult and why do people join??), and not much horror. At least I thought so the first few chapters....hold on tight, welcome to the Japanese highway to Hell.

I was lucky enough to be given an advanced reader copy of GhostCityGirl in exchange for an honest review. At first I wasn't sure what to think because I'm unfamiliar with the cyberpunk genre and I was unsure whether it would fit my tastes. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved this book.

Wilson created a futuristic Dystopian world that, even though it's fictional, felt rich and teeming with life. His use of detailed descriptions to build up the world he created was never boring or overbearing. It only helped the reader imagine what life would be like in an oppressed society filled with dangers around every corner.

Kichi is such a well thought out character and I knew I would like following her from the opening pages. The mystery that she works to unravel with the help of a few friends built up the tension and made it a thrilling read. The story never slowed and Wilson's world was so interesting and unique, you only hope he gives you more glimpses into what life is like in the city.

There are surprises, twists and turns when you least expect them and in no way does Wilson write like this is his debut novel. I easily gave GCG 5 stars and I would highly recommend this book to any fans of dystopian fiction, cyber punk, thrillers, and horrror. There's something for everyone in here. Wilson is an author you're going to want to be following. From what I understand, GCG is part of a trilogy, so if you enjoy this book, you're in for more adventures in the GCG world.
