Over the Shakespeare aspect of this book! However it took forever to get into and I wasn’t super invested at any point.

I have conflicting feelings on this one. I really liked Kareena and Prem - I loved their banter and they had a ton of chemistry. The writing was fantastic and overall it was a really fun and fast read.

I was really bothered by they way Kareena’s family treated her (hence the one star knock off), but I also don’t want to focus on that too much since it might be due to cultural differences. The Aunites were fantastic and I loved the little bit we got of the friend group.

Okay what did I just read?! I am so confused. This book was like watching an episode of some weird reality show where the only objectives are drama, immaturity, and indecision. Every character in this book behaves like a child most of the time. Absolutely nobody is likeable and I cannot for the life of me understand any of their choices, hangups, or thought processes.

If you liked Incense and Sensibility (another retold classic with a unique cultural influence) or The Dating Plan (another romance novel fraught with highly indecisive characters), then you may appreciate this book more than I did.

The spicy scenes were awkward because of the change in tone of the story. MMC was aggressive and was a big turn off. The main characters were a bit bland and I didn’t really know what the FMC did for work. It focused mainly on the MMC.

This book was a delight to listen to! It was steamy and lovely and so freaking relatable in some ways. Kareena's "oldest daughter" vibes throughout spoke to my soul and I completely empathized with the unfairness she felt for always being expected to be on top of things and not make mistakes while having her feelings disregarded. I loved the dynamic of the characters and their relationships - even her younger sister, who I thought was incredibly annoying and self-centered at the beginning - sorta redeemed herself by the end. And Prem? Holy moly. I love that man.

I liked the sweater vests. I liked that each of them had strong friendships to run things by. I enjoyed the contrast between his rational approach to relationships and her emotional approach.
The first time Prem referred to his dick as Charlie, I laughed. Not even his Charlie, just Charlie. Like the thing has a mind of its own and is entirely separate from him. And then it was repeated many many times. Eek.

It's hilarious, heartwarming, and Prem is absolutely swoon-worthy (aside from the Charlie bit). Prem's showing up at the D&D game and his cutdown of Kareena's sister was a little over the top.

I LOVE THIS BOOK! Cannot wait for the next one. This was an absolutely fantastic read. I read it in one day! I loved the main characters and I feel like this was a spin on "fake dating" so to speak that you don't really see. They don't ever even truly "fake date" so I think it added something different that I really enjoyed! I think all of the supporting characters were also interesting and I am so intrigued to hopefully see their relationships progress. This read would be great for fans of the Kiss Quotient series, Brown Sister series and I think even fans of The Hating Game or Love Hypothesis!
