A beautiful piece of literary fiction, speaking to faith and longevity. Our main character is so soft and contemplative.

This book reminded me a lot of Never Let Me Go (which I loved). There’s something similar about  Klara’s voice, a naïveté perhaps?
Nothing much really happens and it’s a little infuriating that we don’t get to see or understand more about the world (so in that sense, it reminds me a little of The Buried Giant, which I didn’t like), but there’s enough to keep the reader intrigued. I was quite amused by the AFs having their own superstitions.

what it means to live a good life, what it means to be human, what it means to love... the book delved into these themes through the lens of an endearing AI character.
I felt that the AI character was a fun way to dial up and down the reliability of the narrator, with lots of dramatic irony. I enjoyed the ending a lot, where Josie magically ends up better despite what the audience might believe. I appreciated that this story could only occur with a deeply emotionally immature mother who is also seemingly quite rich. I enjoyed the brand of love that Rick and Josie appeared to fall into. The question of whether anyone could accept a copy of Josie... and the parallel of Josie getting better while Klara got "sick". I'm not sure I believed Klara was akin to human in the end, and I enjoyed that ambiguity.
