The Dragon's Heart by Eden Ashe is a 2014 Lyrical Press publication. I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Daniel is the king of the dragon shape-shifters. After a millennia of war with the hunters, Daniel is ready for some R&R. He also needs to put the Hollywood starlet, Shelby Kincaid out of his mind. Well, R&R appears to be off the table and Shelby has come back into his life. She is in recovering from an attack and Daniel is stunned to learn that there is a reason why he is having such a hard time getting Shelby off his mind.

It has been a year since Daniel and Shelby last saw each other. Since then, Shelby's movie career has tanked amid allegations she committed murder. When Daniel sees she bears his mark, he is shocked. How on earth did that happen? He had been so careful. Now is seems he is mated with Shelby for life. But, Daniel isn't going to accept that, for both their sakes. He is determined to find a way to break the bond. In the meantime he has his hands full trying to find out who attacked Shelby and will soon find himself and his fellow shape-shifter back in a full scale war.

In baseball, it's three strikes and your out. Well in the Dragon shape-shifter world, three strikes means something else entirely. Three strikes and your in... for life. Shelby and Daniel had been together twice. Daniel knew not to make it a third time. But, somehow he had accidently bonded her. Now Shelby must know all about him. Things don't go all that smoothly for them. Shelby is determined to keep Daniel alive and to make him see that she is ready to stay with him for all eternity. But, Daniel is convinced the two of them are from separate worlds and each belongs in their own world. Shelby wouldn't make it in his world and he wouldn't make it in hers....

I really enjoyed this paranormal fantasy novel by Eden Ashe. Humor, action scenes, HOT romance, and a richly woven fantasy make this a fun read. Daniel was funny, but difficult, and I loved his growl. Shelby was had a little fire and was able to withstand Daniel's protestations and prove that she was his woman and they belonged together.
Overall I give this one an A.

I received the book for free through Goodreads First Reads. Way too short! The characters were so unique and interesting that I would have loved more time spent on them. The war they fought seemed a bit too easy, but the romance was great.
