This graphic novel had a seriously GORGEOUS art style, one of the prettiest I’ve ever read. The panel composition was also spot on. In terms of plot/character, it was really therapeutic watching Willow learn how to manage her emotions.Â
There were three things I didn’t like that bumped down my rating. The first is that this book is aimed at kids, though the way emotions are depicted for most of the book is a little abstract, so I think a MG audience would be more suitable. Secondly, I didn’t like the impression it gave that some emotions are good and some are bad. Finally, the composition and narrative did come to be a little repetitive.Â
Graphic: Grief
Moderate: Death of parent and Bullying
Minor: Physical abuse, Ableism, Death, and Violence
