Received ARC from NetGalley for honest review.

This was such a sweet read. The artwork was amazing, the plot was heartwarming, and the characters were surprisingly well developed for such a quick read. There is not much that can be said without spoiling the story, but I will say that I quickly grew attached to Willow and her little monsters. Growing up is a struggle, but it is part of all of us and once we accept the crazy range of emotions that we experience, we are better able to manage them and accept them as part of being human.

10+ Whole premise is about loss of a loved one, grief, feeling alone, and dealing with anger.

I think this was a really sweet book. I believe that pilu dealing with her grief through anger is a natural reaction that children tend to have. I enjoyed the family dynamics in this book and the fact that Pilu helped the magnolia spirit get home was an interesting way that she was able to find closure. I think overall, it has really good messages, and the artwork is super fun! Children dealing with loss and behavioral problems would benefit from reading this book!

This graphic novel was absolutely adorable!
The art style is simple, but gorgeous and the smiplicity only amplified this.
I really felt for our main character Pilu, she is hurting and angry and I love that she got time to think about her situation and nothing got resolved too quickly.
Also.. 5 stars alone for Chicory the dog. <3
