A very cute and action-packed story with lots of humorous reference for older kids and adults. But even without knowing what the references refer to, they make perfect sense to the story, so nothing but being in on the joke is lost. One example is a being that is a piece of time who is explaining how complex and fluid time is. The being ends the explanation with "we're all very wibbly-wobbly."

The audio version of this makes the jokes a bit harder to catch though. The narrator tries a bit too hard with her inflections, making nearly the whole book (even narrative parts) seem like the characters and narrator are surprised and confused and maybe just a bit disgusted with everything. I will usually just burn straight through books like this, but it took me longer than usual because I found myself needing breaks from this narrator.

I bought this book so that I can read it to my niece of 6 years old. She loves Hanuman and Lord Shiva.
After seeing some reviews I decided to read my self first. Hanuman have mercy on me, the author butchered the whole Hindu mythology concept. It may be appealing to western Indians who don't care about these but making mockery of Lord Hanuman and calling him an Ape? Yes, he is a monkey god, still it's horrible.

The concept is fantastic though, that is why the 2 stars.
