It actually was very well written and easy to understand. I enjoyed it well enough. I only give it 4 stars because I was forced to read it and I was up until 3 am trying to finish it...

I read this back in middle school, but decided to listen to the audiobook in order to re-read. A very important work to be sure. It was NOT easy to read and even less easy to listen to, but I would still recommend the audiobook read by Forest Whitaker. It is available for free on Spotify.

Both of these works were awe-inspiring, both giving different perspectives to the lives of slaves. A definite recommendation for anyone interested in that part of history.
