I enjoyed this book, but I didn't love it. This series is supposed to be about Jacky, but this book really felt more about Brion and/or maybe Cassius. This book felt like a bonus book that an author publishes after another has already come out that explores the same events from a new perspective. Little about this plot had to do with Jacky making decisions. It was more Jacky reacting to everything around her. Granted this series is a lot of that, but at least the plot centers more around Jacky and her actions. Every other character had side-plots that felt slightly more intriguing than anything happening with Jacky. Jacky's eyes were just the window from which the author used to tell the story. It was still an entertaining story, but I didn't love it. I am interested in reading what is published next, regardless.

My favourite Jacky Leon book

The only book in the series I have given 5⭐s to, so u know it is my favorite. I love delving into the world of the fae in this book, I also found my favorite character, Sorcha. again very good read.

So I try to get back to the Tribunal archives world and I had decided the formula to use was reading by publication date oh boy that was a bad idea because in this one, ho boy, you see what happens in Kaliya’s world like way into the future after the series has ended. That terrible thing that happens to Cassius, I swear, not nice, [a:Kristen Banet|17235359|Kristen Banet|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1518632360p2/17235359.jpg], not nice at all. Of all people, not that person, and now I have to read [b:Legends|58358420|Legends (Kaliya Sahni, #5)|K.N. Banet|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1623902193l/58358420._SY75_.jpg|91516178]. How am I supposed to go back to Kaliya when I know what is going to happen I feel so betrayed I don't like knowing the future; and such a terrible future at that. You know when I read Shades of Hate and I discovered Brin’s identity I was so happy but I wish I hadn't read Royal Pawn until I had finished Kaliya’s series. I thought the main characters in different books didn't cross over.

Review: 5/Stars
In this book, Jacky is duty bound to protect the human wife (Fiona) of a Fae King (King Brion, first born of Oberon, High King overall at one time). King Brion (Brin) was just a Fae she met in the first book, but at the time had no idea who he really was. Once the knowledge was pulled from her mind in the last book his identity has been found out and trouble has come with that. Jacky, in a relationship with Heath (Werewolf, once the Pack Alpha and a forbidden lover) now knows and this becomes King Brion’s blackmail to force Heath into the duty of protection as well. The Fae people are twisted in thoughts and tradition, and half truths roll off their tongue way too easily. The war they are trying to start turns bloody, and the lives lost are heartbreaking. Oh Jacky, how did you get yourself into another “protection duty”? I mean I know how but jeez, you are facing another crazy situation & risking your relationship with Heath. There is a risk for your family and his in this war that the Fae are entering. I Love this book, and don’t want to give too much away.

If you are not familiar with Jacky Leon werecat and kick ass bar owner then you are missing out. This series has got more twists and turns and new supernatural problems in every book. Every book is action packed, with some mild fade to black spice (but I still love it), a great world, wonderful MC and side characters.

Miss Banet you’re a goddess.

This 6th installment was a masterpiece! I love this series so much and words can’t convey how amazing it is. I love to see the growth of all those characters and to watch them overcome great challenges in order to be happy.

I’m really invest into this world and I’m speechless and in awe with K. Banet writing style and the way she unfolds her stories.

This book didn’t disappoint and the quality of the writing/storytelling is consistent.

I’m impressed because usually when series are too long there’s kind of a letdown with how the world progress or it’s a bit boring but not with Miss Banet, the world is more rich and complex than before and the characters are evolving, growing and you want to know what’s going to happen next.

I’ve read almost her entire backlist and let me tell you: if you haven’t picked a book from her yet you NEED to do it. You won’t be disappointed. This series is fantastic and it’s getting better each books after the other! Her Age of Andinna series is truly one of the greatest epic fantasy series of this decade and this series is starting to follow this path as well into the paranormal genre.

5 stars read of course. I don’t expect any less from her.

This book. I am still reeling after finishing this book. We all know drama comes at Jacky fast, but I don't know how Jacky keeps up with her own life.

I found characters I hate in this book. I liked them before and maybe didn't know them all that well. There is so much emotion over the course of this book. It runs from anger, to fear, to sadness, to shock, to betrayal. There is so much that happens and furthers the story.

I was so engrossed I couldn't put the book down! I finished it in one day. I was so shocked by the last little bit of the book that I was kind of a zombie the rest of the day.

Jacky Leon lived a quiet life tending bar until a werewolf war landed on her doorstep. She was called to duty and forced to act as the protector for the human daughter of one of the werewolves doing battle.

That set her on the path and in Royal Pawn she has gone full circle. She is once again called to duty to protect a human, this time the human wife of a fae king in hiding.

Royal Pawn is very much a transitional book. It moves Jacky Leon's story forward and sets the scene for future books. At the end there isn't much in the way of resolution, there are a lot of loose ends which will be dealt with later. The story was good, not great, but it was also necessary.

I'm so into this series, I can't really believe it! I need to see how the relationship between Heath and Jacky develops and what will happen to them. Both werewolves and werecats think they betrayed their species, but I keep cheer for them. I can't wait for the next book to come out!
