Love quoting his poetry. I love reciting Annabel Lee, there's always just so much emotion and power I can express with his work! If you prefer rhyming, dramatic poetry like myself, then you will definitely enjoy this. Prefer more modest, free-verse poems, maybe it's not for you.

I should probably give this 4 stars, as there were a few stories that I really didn't care for, but whatever, I'm a Poe fangirl, it's fine.

Edgar Allan Poe's complete poetry collection is truly a must have for anyone who can appreciate writing. While many of the poems are simple, none are bad or boring. His writing is witty, knowledgeable and poetic (obviously). Poems such as City By The Sea, The Raven and Annabel Lee are absolute perfection: it is no surprise world class writers like Nabakov have praised his work.
Five out of Five stars.

I'm not sure I'm one for poetry collections. I find that after a while, they all start to blend together and I lose the enjoyment of the ones that truly stood out. I think from now on if I read a volume of poetry, I'll make it a collection from various authors.

Poe is so dreary, but I love his work. Annabel Lee is my very favorite, I always try to read it out loud, with as much inflection as possible. My kids used to laugh at me, but now that they are forced to read poetry in school, they agree, it makes it much easier to enjoy.
