I honestly really really liked this book. No notes. My friend recommended it to me and I went into it a little reluctantly, but I had nothing to be reluctant about. It was a great book, great characters, great development. If I had one little nagging thing it would be that stuff really started to wrap itself up a little *too* neatly in the third quarter, but I’m never one to complain about a happy ending. As this book is all about things that I have literally no experience with I have to trust that the author did her research (and the acknowledgment section seems to indicate she did), but I cannot speak to how people who have gone through events like those in this book would respond to this story.

This was one of the better lighter reads. Not a deep literary accomplishment but a good story that kept the pages turning.

AMAZING!!!!!
About 50 pages into this book I was convinced it was going to be the most depressing book I've ever read. And at first it really was. But Maggie turns out to be so strong and inspiring. It makes you really think about life and the things that are important. Don't take the little things for granted. I think just about everyone needs to read this book. And also prepare yourself for a sad cry and a happy cry and all the cries in between.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I was amazed! I had a hard time putting the book down. It is such a touching story of strength and love. I was cheering for Margaret the entire book. I can’t say enough good things about this book!

This is the line that got me:
“If you’d asked me before the crash, I’d have told you that feelings were like blocks of primary colors: You felt blue for a while, then yellow, then red. But now I saw the emotional landscape quite differently—more like the pointillism of a Seurat painting: each color made up of many other colors. Look closely, and it’s dots. Stand back, and it’s an afternoon on the lake—all the colors relying on each other for texture and meaning.”

I think what made me appreciate this book so much was a shared experience of going through a life altering accident. I laughed, cried, and reflected on my own experience and it was healing in a sense for my own self. My take away is I wouldn’t have been ready for this book until now, post accident. Once I had time to heal. Once I could reflect on my own PT and recognize she is a key person that helped heal me and cheered me on like I was her best friend. I have an utmost respect for this profession as they can work with the body and mind at the same time to promote healing. What a life to live. “When you don’t know what to do for yourself, do something for somebody else.” and “carry the sorrow when we have to, and absolutely savor the joy when we can.” were quotes that resonated with me in this book. In fact, the first quotes I ever felt compelled to highlight in a book to reflect on later. Easy… a 5 star book for me.
