Back into the Gilded Age. This time with a race for the Mayor taking everyone by storm. I loved the mix of historical fiction with tire events that went on during that race. It’s always fun when authors play around with what did happen and what happens but people just didn’t know about. In this novel you also see some familiar faces from your history books which will give you a flashback to junior year American history class. As always the tension between rose and Thomas is great to read about especially now that they are on a more equal level with each other. I do love how much diversity Lindsay was able to include into her novels seeing as they are going into parts of the city that were notably known to be full of immigrants. It is always nice to see. Great addition to the series.

Loved it. This series is quickly becoming one of my favorites, and I only wish that there were more books to read now!
Rose is now a full-fledged member of the Pinkerton agency, which brings new risks, new friends, and changes her fortunes seemingly overnight. She still has Thomas guiding her in her new career, but she's anxious to break out on her own. I loved how real Rose is....she feels out of place in both her old life and her new, and she is trying to find a place to fit in.
I can't wait for more of this detective and her unique career (plus, all the side characters are great too!)

Audiobook (All of my entries on The Story Graph are audiobooks.)
#2 in series
Will I read other installments?Probably Not Maybe Likely Most Likely Definitely I think there is only one more in the series (to date), so I may read it.
Comparison to others in series:Better About the same Not as good Good, but it could have been better The only problems with this installment is that it was too long. The author could have shave 1 to 2 hours off the story and it would not have made much of a difference. Too much detail and too much filler bores me. But hey, where else are you going to find a book where Twain (Mark), Tesla (Nikola) and TR (Teddy Roosevelt) show up?
The narrator was Barrie Kreinik. She does a nice Irish-American accent, very similar to Nicola Barber of Molly Murphy fame.

I enjoyed this book just as much as the 1st one. The character development was great and the addition of new characters was quite fun for me. I have high hopes for the next book!
