Ponderously slow, wordy for the sake of being wordy, frequently grotesque and ultimately leaves the reader nothing much of value. I suppose the lesson of the book is dwelling in the past for too long, especially your own past, will make you tedious to others even as you become more & more engrossing to yourself.
