sooo gorgeous… a story that at its core is about patriarchy, autonomy, and what it is to be a mother, a child…. i love how this made me think and process, it has such a beautifully cyclical story full of growing pains and frustrating complex characters that i found so easy to empathize with despite their flaws…

A heart-wrenching and at times harrowing story with the most extraordinary descriptions of living with advanced Parkinsons's disease. The author, Claudia Piñeiro, is known as an activist and this book covers many issues close to her heart. One that struck me was how lucky I am to live in a country with universal health care which, while far from perfect, doesn't require wrangling with insurance companies over every pill and which has care provision for this who need it. There are other, largely feminist, issues in here too. And examples of how many of us show love in our own way. This is a book which will stay with me for a long time.

A book using crime tropes but tells a story exploring the themes of ageism, disability, and abortion - not to mention the influence and arrogance of society and religion over feeling the need to control other peoples' bodies.

This book says so much, in so few pages.

The story is follows a woman with Parkinson’s. The story is slow paced, making you feel the frustration of the protagonist, as while she can’t get her answers due to the battle with her illness, neither can we.

This book features a fraught relationship with a mother and daughter. It demonstrates the effects of misogyny, perpetrated by society, men and, women themselves.

It’s a book about the importance of bodily autonomy, and what it feels like to have that autonomy taken away - and what lengths you might go to reclaim it.
