Great escapism. Good crap if you can't bring yourself to read other crap.

Wish I could give this zero stars! This is treacly, preposterous nonsense. I wanted Francesca to dump everybody and run off on her own. Pompous, self-involved Robert was no match for her.

I read this twice, the second time by accident, having forgotten how little I liked it the first time.

I cried at the end. What an amazing love story. I have to give it to Francesca for going back to her kids and her husband. She felt so much passion and love from Robert, but she chose to live her life with her family instead. Only after her husband had died did she even try to reach out to Robert. That had to be so heartbreaking for her. I really liked this read.

There's something about this book. It's so overwrought, but there's a genuine emotional core to it that is what people have honestly responded to over the years.
Bonus story: one of my friend's former coworkers got yelled at for being stupid for crying at this book. It still hurts her twenty years later.

I get quite passionate when I think about how much time and how many brain cells I wasted reading this book.
It was recommended to me by a professor friend of mine; a man who loves literature. After reading it, I wondered where he had put his brain for the few hours it took to read this ghastly Hallmark card of a book. It is truly one of the worst things I have ever read. Stupid, maudlin story about irritating unrealistic people. Badly written and just plain awful. All copies should be pulped to rid the world of this garbage.
I'm getting worked up again.....

I can't believe I read this book. My only excuse was that I was young and it was short.

Admittedly, I read this book a long time ago but I remember being quite disgusted when I finished it because of the casualness of the affair....Bleh...no thanks.

I just did not love this at all and I do not understand why someone would think this would make a good movie. I didn't see the movie so maybe it all turned out okay in the end? I found the whole thing hard to swollow.
