This was really interesting to listen to. I thought that the story was compelling and sparked a lot of thought about obsession with crime. I think I would have liked to see more general discussion about the true crime's marketing toward female audiences, but I found the narratives of the women to be compelling enough examples to pull some thoughts together about the overall influence.

I really loved this book overall. Monroe did a great job providing a riveting, well-rounded description of the obsessions of these women, their motives, and the overall anxieties of society that were at play. It was hard to put the book down! My only negative feedback was that it   broached a lot of topics at the expense of depth. Maybe that was part of the point, though - that women’s interest in crime is as complex and complicated as the cases they follow or experience more directly.

I really enjoyed how this was organized into four mini-biographies on true crime adjacent women. The autobiographical elements worked well to process themes and questions.
