I enjoyed this comic biography made to be easy for kids to read on their own in first grade or so, although I found the references to aliens too twee to amuse.

I love this quirky, affectionate portrayal of a larger-than-life figure who was a well known fixture in Montreal but perhaps not so much so elsewhere. The illustrations are fantastic and the humor is silly and tender.
I think the Publisher's Weekly review of this book sums it up best when it concludes, "What’s to be made of lives that don’t go the way they were supposed to? Gravel shows that they’re worth paying attention to." This book accomplishes that, and it does so with gusto and abundant good humor.
