I loved this book! I enjoyed following Lark, as she found her place in Cagmar. I loved Azmar and came to love Unach.
And boy did I enjoy Azmar and Lark getting together- unexpected sexy!
It was sad to see the negative elements of having a caste system, but I felt like the ending of the book ended with some positivity for some characters who had been previously downtrodden. I enjoyed the worldbuilding of Cagmar, but felt like there was something missing from the world building outside of Cagmar. However, it was still well written. Overall, great story!

This book had an interesting premise, and I liked a lot of things about it, but ultimately it was a little bit disappointing.

Lark was a very engaging heroine, and Azmar was a lovely love interest for her. I particularly liked that he was a bit of an outlier amongst the trollis, with his soft, kind ways (much like Lark was an outlier amongst humans with her power). I liked their romance but often felt as though some important moments were glossed over and not given the emotional depth they should’ve had.

I’m not sure if it’s because Lark is so young but the tone read a bit YA, which isn’t really my cup of tea. I also felt as though the worldbuilding was a bit lacking. The ending felt a bit rushed
— I would’ve liked to see how Lark and Azmar actually settled into Tayler’s township, rather than ending on their decision to leave.

The story was mainly plot driven and the MFC was treated poorly and she found family elsewhere. The chaste system prejudices and society issues was a huge part of the book. It's a  fantasy with some romance. It was interesting but the world building was lacking a tad and characters needed more development for more relatable dimension.  Overall it was a decent read.

A lovely stand-alone novel.

Great world-building with interesting characters. Some inconsistencies with character comparative sizing, but nothing that can't be overlooked. The lack of gratitude from the council at two different points was a little too convenient, but that's just my opinion.

Overall, a well-worth read.
