This was soooo adorable and cute. I will be sure to read the other books as well. :D Go Captain Awesome!

Fun story, but I thought it tried just a little too hard to be cute with its word choice. Though now that I think about it, it might be a lot more fun to read out loud.

This is definitely my new favorite first chapter book series. They remind me of the Franny K Stein books (which I also love) only more boyish. Love the humor and the illustrations, and great for reading out loud. Can't wait to read the rest!

I read this one to the kids - Peter's choice. A fun story and a great chapter book for beginning readers.

I found myself mentally making my grocery list while reading this out loud, but my kindergartner loved it and plans on reading (i.e., me reading to him) the rest of the series. Oh boy: I don't think I could ever need a shopping list long enough to make it through. The writing was pretty basic, the story just "twaddle."

Cute series about a young boy whose alter-ego is a superhero. I like the premise, but I think the vocabulary is a little ambitious for the intended age range of 5-7. I've noticed in our library kids in 2nd & 3rd grade are interested in this series too- so i think it skews a little older.

I like this transitional chapter book series for beginning chapter book readers. I think it can be a bit confusing at the beginning that Eugene switches between his superhero thoughts and lingo and what is actually going on, but once readers get the hang of it, the reading and understanding should be smooth!

I guess file this under books that just aren't for me. I know this series is popular with our young readers at the library. To me, it was just too simple to be enjoyable and mostly seemed to be about the young protagonist spouting catchphrases. Still, for kids who envision themselves to be superheroes and are just beginning to read chapter books, this may be a good choice.
