Cash grab with pretty pictures. (Are they AI generated?)

Doesn't seem to contain much new information, wanted to learn about the children of the forest, the Doom of Valyria, the Rhoynar, Braavos, and mostly, Asshai by the Shadow. The mysteries surrounding these in AOSIAF are not in any way resolved, explained, or expanded in this book - what we already knew and didn't know is just repeated here.

I've read a lot of Martin's work and am wondering if he actually wrote the text in this book because the writing is awful and doesn't feel like him.

Did I mention the pictures are pretty? Especially Valyria. Valyria is pretty.

I think the 5 star rating is pretty self explanatory.

The Song of Ice and Fire series are some of my favorite books of all time, and the show Game of Thrones is the best television series ever. So, it makes perfect sense that I would consider the history of the world of Westeros and Essos a masterpiece.

Not only is it interesting and well written, the artwork is INCREDIBLE. Kudos to all the artists who helped the authors bring this book to life.

I'm at an impressive intermediate level of being a Song of Ice and Fire history expert at this point.

I even use this book as a reference for any questions I have, just like one would use a normal history textbook. It's THAT thorough.

It took me a long while to get through this book. It reads like a history text book but a lot of it is very interesting. I will next try to tackle fire and blood, hopefully I can get through it a bit faster than this one.

The artwork in this book really adds all the magic and probably made me give this a full star extra. The history of the Seven Kingdoms was really enjoyable, but if you’ve read Fire and Blood it’s hardly refreshing. The second half and especially last third weren’t as interesting to me but I suppose that’s just personal preference. The format of the book is fitting, but not very convenient (who likes reading in columns?) but then again the drawings were bigger so you can really appreciate the details.
