Lovely little story

I don't normally give short stories such a high rating but in this case I could not resist. Festive, with a gorgeous animal lover what's not to like.

Nice piece of festive fun.

I seem to always find myself reading short stories around Christmas time. Something quick, short and most likely entertaining.

A Christmas in Disguise is a story of Christmas dinner party disaster. Jo, bless her, has stepped in for her friend Andi. Jo got all instructions how to prepare Christmas meal that is so impressive that it will impress her posh boss and her celebrity friends, and most important that it also will convince them all that it is Andi who is cooking. What a mess.

Things are getting a bit out of hand when Anthony, one of the guests has a very convincing reason for Jo to pretend to be his girlfriend as well as continue to cook this dinner. The bomb is starting to tick...

This is a truly classic comedy that can bring a little bit more festive mood in your home. - also on idasku.com

A fun christmas short story - not as long as I'd've liked, but that's always the way with these things - some of the length is a preview of the next book.

As far as short stories go, I have to say I really enjoy the ones written by Katie Fforde. I first read a book by Katie Fforde last year. It was a collection of her short stories and I read them on the recommendation of my mother who absolutely adores all of Fforde’s books.

A Christmas in Disguise is a gem of a short story that has the classic dinner party disaster setting. In this story, Jo has stepped in for her friend Andi as a chef to the stars. She needs to prepare a Christmas meal that will not only impress her socialite boss and her celebrity friends but one that will also convince them that it is really Andi who is cooking. No easy feat.

Things take a thing for the crazy when one of the guests – the gorgeous Anthony – convinces Jo to pretend to be his girlfriend at the very same meal that she is cooking for everyone else. It is a disaster waiting to happen.

Fforde’s protagonist Jo just seems to want to help everybody, bless her. She gets dragged into all sort of silly situations and tries her hardest to keep her head above water…and incidentally, her food from burning.

This is a classic comedy of errors that would make a fantastic television short over the festive season. I sincerely hope that it is commissioned for TV.

A Christmas in Disguise by Katie Fforde is available now.

I love Katie's little novellas. They're short and sweet and very festive. I probably wouldn't purchase them (I'm lucky enough to get them via Netgalley) - the £1.99 price tag is far too high for a book that takes half an hour to read when you can get full length ones for 99p, but that's a whole other article for another day ;)

This is a lovely little novella, I liked the whole idea of someone standing in for someone else, and it was lovely of Jo to do that, especially as I would ALWAYS pick dogs over humans, especially dogs in a shelter XD. Yes, I am that kind of human being. I prefer dogs to humans. And I liked Anthony, he was quite charming, despite his rich boy status.

There's not a lot I can say about this novella, it was just a really sweet read. The perfect little read before bed, and I can't wait for Katie's next offering, she always a must-read author for me.
