Judging by the synopsis of Queen Takes Knights I knew that there is a low chance of me liking it, but I wanted to give it a try being a short and silly read. So I went in with an open mind and low expectations, but from the first chapter this book proved to be bad. The fact that her getting her period ensured that the monsters that she was running from were 100% sure to find her really showed me what type of book this was.
I didn't like the writing style. It felt juvenile and convoluted at the same time.
There were also writing errors. A good round of editing would do this book good.
I didn't like the insta lust. From the moment she sees them, her love interests, she wants to bone them. The fmc is supposed to be a virgin, but she doesn't act like it. Not only she initiates sexual contact, but also has no inhibitions, nothing to show that in her 22 years of living she never had close contact with anyone (except her parents) nevertheless two men.
All of that desire for period blood really showed how absurd this book is.
There is virtually no character development. At least for everyone except our fmc. However it's badly done so it doesn't matter.
Every character's reason for existing is to serve her. They don't have any real personality or motivations.
"Now I had two lovers, learned that I was a vampire gazillionaire, and that Dad wasn’t my biological father at all. I needed time to process everything, which I didn’t have, because monsters were trying to break down the fence protecting the house." This quote should tell you what type of book this is.
The whole story is just so fucking ridiculous that it was funny.
I appreciate the author for putting effort into the world-building, but it ludicrous, laughable, ridiculous. The way that we came to learn about the world was only info dumping. How she discovers more is by people telling her and that's it.
Overall, it was bad. The type of story to find on wattpad. Won't continue with the series.

Sexual scenes, violence, blood/gore, blood play, murder, body horror, suicidal ideations, and recounting of watching parents murdered.

Shara has been on the run for five years never being able to stay in one place longer than a month. Why? Monsters hunt her and every time her period starts they’re able to track her down by the scent of her blood. Honestly, I would be exhausted…imagine fighting for your life EVERY MONTH while you’re on your period?! That’s cruel and unusual punishment right there.

Daire and Rik are Blood, people who are meant to serve a vampire Queen. For years they’ve yearned for their own Queen to serve and have been searching coast to coast in hopes of finding one. Lovers for years they’re both extremely close and long for the time they can share a Queen.

I’m really fascinated with the lore behind the origin of Vampires in this series and look forward to finding more about the history the authors created. At times the dialogue got a little cheesy between the two Blood and Shara but not so much that I needed to walk away.

The connection between all three is strong and I’m a little sad that she’ll be adding more Blood, at some point, because a Queen grows in strength the more Blood she has. I really like seeing the relationship develop between Shara, Daire, and Rik. I’m hopeful that their bond will remain strong regardless of how many Blood wander into their life.

What a fun start to a series and as long as you aren’t squeamish about reading scenes with blood play, including scenes when she starts her period, you should be just fine. I should be picking up book two soon as this book ends with some new information, and a new direction to travel, and I’m eager to learn where it all leads.
