Beautiful Lawman
5 Stars

In the small town of Sweet Hills, Texas, everyone is familiar with the notorious Walsh family. But Piper Walsh has worked hard to make a good life for herself and her younger sister. Unfortunately, keeping her head down doesn't work with Hale Winters, the arrogant and sexy sheriff who only sees her as trouble with a capital T. Despite their mutual vows to steer, Piper and Hale clash at every turn and animosity soon turns to an intense attraction they cannot ignore. Can a girl from the wrong side of the tracks have a future with the town's golden boy?

Series note: Piper and Hale first meet in book #3, and characters from book #1 and #2 are mentioned and appear. That said, all necessary information is provided and the plot is unconnected.

North and Faith's book was obviously going to be a tough act to follow, yet Jordan manages to outdo herself with Piper and Hale.

The intensity of Piper and Hale's antagonistic, opposites-attract romance is off-the-charts as they can't be in the same room together without clashing verbally and physically. There are times when Hale's overbearing dominance skirts the line, but he manages to avoid crossing it through his evident love for Piper, and hers for him.

Piper is an incredible heroine with amazing strength and resilience and her heartbreaking secret only enhances her appeal. The fact that Hale doesn't even blink at the revelation, despite his apparent black-and-white view of the world, is a testament to his love for Piper.

All in all, another amazing addition to the series, and I am sad it will be coming to an end with Cruz Walsh's book next.

Okay, I have a lot of thoughts about this book. But, let me start with the positives. The writing was good — adequate, nothing amazing. I think I prefer the author’s historical romances but that’s just a preference. The sex scenes were also good — this is not an erotica so it would be unfair to expect blazing fireworks after every page.

However, this plot was nonsensical. There were so many red flags in this relationship that I found it hard for me to root for the couple. First of all, the hero was the heroine’s boss and that’s an abuse of power if there ever was one. At some point he uses his job to get the heroine’s number and that’s just creepy, dude.

There is a subplot involving the heroine’s brother, surely used to set up the next book, that was almost an afterthought. That word count could’ve been used to explain why the hero fell in love with the heroine for reasons that are not sexual.

In this book, it seems as if most of the interactions between the hero and heroine were of a sexual nature — there weren’t enough scenes setting up an intimate connection between the main characters that was not rooted in lust. I don’t know man, by the end of this book I was not convinced that these two should’ve ended up together. I’m worried about the nature of their relationship if the heroine ever becomes truly independent and doesn’t necessarily need the hero.

I recently discover Miss Jordan books. I read few of her works and I have to admit she is a great writer. Beautiful Lawman is a good book.
I was expexting much nore enemy to lover romance. But because the length of thr book is short, therefore I am not fully satisfied.

I want to see more that hate to love relationship. Hale is also too brooding to get into his head. Hence his chemistry is more cold.

This book was so heartwarming! It moved a little bit fast for me, which is why I'm giving it 4 stars, but overall a really great read.

Aside from a few things I personally didn't enjoy about the dialogue, this was a fun, steamy read with the usual level of antics, drama and romance I've come to expect from the Devil's Rock Series.

I ate the book up, reading it in just a few hours and enjoyed seeing the return of some of the previous characters in the series.

The fourth book in the Devil’s Rock series involves Piper Walsh and Hale Walters and at first glance, it looks like a case of opposite attracts.

Piper is stuck in a town where everyone seemed to judge her by her family’s last name which is leading her to live a hard life, but she does it for her sister Malia. She isn’t afraid to speak her mind though and no one would think of her as a fragile girl. She gives as much as she gets especially around Hale who seems to know how to push her buttons anytime they meet. When the fear of losing the guardianship of her sister if she can’t provide for her, she takes on a job that she never anticipated she would ever do which put the story of the book in motion and bringing her more and more often in the presence of Hale which she can’t help but argue with.

Hale is the definition of the righteous man; always going by the law. The town seems to worship him because of his upbringing and how he followed his father’s footsteps. He’s living the opposite life of Piper and he tends to judge her like the rest of the town. But while Hale steers clear of any relationship of any kind, he is drawn to Piper and he can’t get her out of his head. He is determined to understand her even if she isn’t making the job easy.

Piper and Hale are both outspoken people and whenever they interact; neither of them wants to step down. Neither of them is afraid of confrontation which often leads them into situation that gets out of hand, but you can’t deny the attraction between the two of them which makes this relationship even more explosive.

Throughout this book, these two will learn that there always something deeper to someone’s personality than their first impression. The expression “don’t judge a book by its cover” applies perfectly not only to this book but to the whole series.

I could tell you more, but I’m trying not to spoil anything. Let’s just say you will be hooked from the first chapter.

All in all, this book was probably my favourite in this series. As much as I loved the others, this one just got me hooked on the people because they made this book so interesting.

I was given an advanced copy of this book in exchange of an honest review.
