The first Iron Fey took me two days to read, but this one took me 4. As you can see it wasn't quite as interesting as the first.

So, in the Iron Daughter, Meghan is stuck in the Ulsilie Court, but Ash rescues her after the Scripter is stolen by the new iron king. This Scripter starts a war between the two courts and Meghan, Ash, Puck, and Grimlakin (along with unsuspecting characters) have to get it back before the courts slaughter each other.

My main problem with this book was the stupid things Meghan did. I really hate when you cringe with embrassment for the characters actions and this book had a lot of those. Ash was also a complete jerk in this book and almost the entire time you will want to slap him.
Puck addmitts his feelings for Meghan in this book and it complicates things. Meghan is heart broken over Ash, and ends up taking advantage of Puck.
My favorite part of this book was the ending! It saved the book for sure.

I love this series. Just gets better and better. What I like best of all is having found the series late I still I have lots of books to look forward to!

I really enjoyed The Iron King, but I thought that The Iron Daughter was lacking in something - though what that is, I'm not entirely sure of. Great new characters, great character development, great plot, great writing...but I felt like we were going round in circles. It was similar to that bit in Scooby Doo where the gang run across one corridor into a number of different rooms, attempting to catch the monster; amusing in parts, but overall pointless. However, that twist at the end definitely made up for the sheer amount of chasing, even though I guessed it about halfway through.

WOW!!! Action packed and lots of live triangle action. Ash is Meagan's Edward, but I have a soft spot for the playful Puck. The Iron Kingdom represents modernity in the negative--how it strips peoples' imagination and ability to believe. I do believe this and is why since summer I have significantly cut out most TV in exchange for reading more books. But I do cling to my iPhone and felt guilty reading the book on my nook BUT my daughter is reading an old fashion book copy at the same time.

Language is the only thing shit, ass, damn it, bitch and dickhead. They are few and far between. Love tension-kiss scenes are more plentiful than book 1 but not too suggestive.

Het was een apart boek om te lezen. Dit tweede deel vond ik wel wat minder leuk. Verder was het verhaal wel spannend en Ash is gewoon geweldig, af en toe was hij best wel gemeen tegen Meghan.

Spoiler The Iron Fey series for me is a bit of a nostalgia read. I read the first book many moons ago and really liked it back then, but somehow never got around to read the rest of the series and now seemed as good a time as any.

There isn’t anything I found to be exceptionally bad in the book, but vice versa, nothing was exceptionally good. Some passages tugged a bit on my heart strings and Grimalkin is always a welcome character, but overall it was just an alright read.
I do want to know how things further develop, so the story definitely has that going for it!

In some instances I wanted to roll my eyes at the book, but thinking back to when I first discovered the book and how old I was back then and would likely have behaved, it doesn’t seem so out of bounds for Meghan to feel as intensely as she does. I sure thought my feelings were the end all be all when I was a teen.

Reading this now with older eyes, it might not be feeling the same way, but I think this still very much holds up for a teen.

Quotes I liked:

"We cannot be together. Stay away from me. There are too many barriers."

"You're kind of blind, you know?" Puck whispered, smiling to soften his words. "I wouldn't defy Oberon for just anyone. But, for you..." He leaned forward, touching his forehead to mine. "I'd come back from the dead for you.”

"I could handle goblins and bogeymen and evil, flesh-eating horses, but giant freaking spiders? That's where I drew the line"

"How do you know your way around this place, Grim?"Grimalkin blinked. "I am a cat," he said, and vanished down one of the tunnels."

Iron Daughter was fantastic. I do have a few complaints though, (1)Meghan cried waaaaaaayyyy too much in this book. I'm all for letting out your emotions and I know she went through a lot, but seriously she needed to get a grip and really be like iron. That was really my only complaint. Other than that, it was great! Meghan saved the Nevernever and got with Ash, but also kissed Puck and now she's banished. But hey, she's got her true love and now she's home! Yeah! Book 3! Woooo!
