This book is perfection. The writing style really can make your emotion up and down. I am rooting for Patrick to get better. I also feel the pain of Sawyer. How she navigate her life from perfect happy mother to be becoming a single parent.

The character development is actually minimum. There is also a gap of 3 years after Patrick passed away. I do not see in depth the emotional struggle of Sawyer after she becomes a widow. The moral of the story is life continues on its course. Finding courage to find another love story. It is a very powerful message.

This is my first book by C.A. Harms. Looking forward to listen to her other books.

I loved this story about love and friendship. From the beginning I just knew my heart was going to break reading about Patrick and Sawyer. But little by little Sawyer finds a way to continue on and experience that same love again and knowing that is what Patrick would have wanted for her. It wasn’t hard to figure out what direction the story was headed in early on but I loved how it was written and the inner turmoil that both Gage and Sawyer faced with that decision.

Five stars is not enough for this story.

I've tried taking a few days to write a review to really give Don't Be Afraid the justice it deserves but I've given up on that.

Patrick and Sawyers story is absolutely heartbreaking. I cried ugly tears. My throat burned from them. It as beautiful. It is amzingkt written. People dream about the love that these two experience.

If I could read this story for the first time again, I would.
I read this on KU. I'm purchasing on kindle. And I will absolutely purchase the paperback.
I've already recommended it numerous times.

Grab a tissue. Curl up. And give this book the love it demands ❤

I’m just going to go ahead and put this out there, if you don’t like to cry, this isn’t the book for you. I am not normally a crier, I can normally read anything and be able to keep my emotions in check (unless it involves an animal dying then I’m done) This book starts off with some pretty devastating news, and if it doesn’t give you the feels I don’t know what’s wrong with you! This book is about second love, especially after a devastating loss. Sawyer is a woman who has had a rough life, she grew up in foster care without a real family, then she meets the man of her dreams and they fall hopelessly in love, sounds like every other book right? Well the kicker in this one, that you find out on like page 3 is that the love of her life is dying of cancer, and there isn’t anything they can do to give him more time. The first half of this book is so heart wrenching and heart warming at the same time. It shows you how to unconditionally love and that there isn’t always a happy ever after. The second part of this book is about life after loss, and finding yourself again, and learning to love again. I would recommend this book to anyone who needs a good cry and a good reality check. This book hurt my soul, but it also is life. It’s a reality that many people face, and one that’s not talked about. This book will always have a piece of my soul, and I definitely, cleaned out my sinuses from all of the crying that was going on while reading it.

I absolute loved the first half of this book! I loved both Sawyer and Patrick. Their relationship is what many people strive to have and it was beautiful to see. I hated that they were facing something so traumatic that they were powerless against. I cried so much because of the pain and turmoil they felt through each of their perspectives. I was gutted especially when Sawyer and Patrick were talking about the future. I was hoping for a miracle for Patrick. They were each wonderful characters with beautiful hearts. There was no drama in this book other than the roller coaster of emotions that they each cycle through. They are each trying to be strong for each other but at times it is impossible for each of them to accomplish that. I was so happy that they had Gage and family to support them through everything. He was a great character too albeit different from Patrick because we don't get his point of view until later on in the book. Gage is a character that the author never really gives a lot of background on so I wasn't able to form as deep of a connection with him. One of my first thoughts while I was reading this book was of excitement because I thought that this would be a book I would give 5 stars to. The book began so phenomenally!

This story broke me. Patrick and Sawyer's love was so pure. I cried through the first 60% of the book. Gage and Sawyer's part made my heart happy to know they found love in each other. Such a beautiful story.

“I don’t want to live the days I have left as if they are my last. Instead, I want to create so many memories that it’ll be impossible for you to forget me.”

Don't Be Afraid was such a sweet and gut-wrenching story. The first half all I seemed to do was either swoon or cry or both. The second half I enjoyed, but it didn't hit me as much as the first half. I would've liked it if the book was longer and we got to see Gage and Sawyer's relationship build a bit more.
