This was the first mystery murder I've read and the first physical book I bought with my own money and it has been 6 years and I still like the writing style and technique of the book. It was easy to follow and interesting until the end. Despite what the reviews of other people, I really like it.

I just finished listening to the audiobook of this title for the second time. I remembered very little from the first time I heard it, three years ago--maybe this means the book is unmemorable, but I did enjoy hearing it almost as if it were new. I agree with some of the points made in other Goodreads reviews--there are some plot holes for sure--but it was still a fun story to listen to in the car. The many details about the harsh, eccentric, maybe even sociopathic Angel family were what really drew me in, moreso than the plot itself. The audiobook narrator was also a great help--she had the perfect voice for a teenage girl spilling intimate secrets. I just started the second book in the series, but I am not sure it can measure up to this first one (I hope there will be more Angel family drama instead of it being a more generic murder mystery). Time will tell.

Dragged in the middle and then wrapped up too quickly. Too many unanswered questions at the end.

This book was well written and a pleasure to read. The characters were lovable yet suspect. Worth a read!

A very, very easy and not memorable read. It had a lot of potential that could have benefited from a more complex story line and better writing.

Read this when I was younger and remember being obsessed with it. This time round, I really couldn’t stand Tandy’s voice. I can’t tell if that’s because I’m older or if my standards for character development have improved… maybe both. I stuck around to finish it just to catch all of the different ways Officer Caputo refused to call Tandy by her actual name. Worth it, I think.
