"Jim Beckett was everything Tess had ever dreamed of... But 2 years after Tess married Jim and bore his child, she helped put him behind bars for savagely murdering 10 women. Even lockedup in a max security prison, he vowed he would come after her and make her pay. Now the killer has escaped, and Tess has got to learn to fight back. With the help of a burned out ex marine, Tess learns how to protect herself and her daughter as a gigantic manhunt , crossing 4 states, counts down to this terrifying reunion between husband and wife. A real page turne r, centring on the nightmare of discovering that the person you love and trust more than anyone else in the world is out to hunt you down." (From Amazon)

A brilliant suspense/thriller novel. A creepy unforgettable villain (Jim Beckett) and strong female heroine (Tess Williams) and a hot tortured hero (JT Dillon). Gardner is a strong writer and personal backgrounds are never just filler.

I love this book every time I read it. Crazy psychopaths and heart pounding suspense from beginning to end. The characters are fantastically gritty and real.

Yeah, it was formulaic, a bit too heavy on romance, but still a page turner. :-)

I read about half of this book. I could not finish it. It contained too much dialogue and too much gory crime detail. I had nightmares and still do. I cannot unsee what I read and I regret it.

I really enjoyed the overall plot and it was an easy read. The romance was a bit too present for my taste, but the gruesome crimes were exactly what I was looking for

I liked this book more than I thought I would! The characters were well developed, and just when you think you've figured out what's going on, in comes a twist!

Lost interest, may reread when I feel like it. TBR is also getting a bit too long.
