When it is time to take a break from my preferred Paranormal Romance or RomCom porn as I like to refer to it as, I have a tendency to find myself in the suspenseful romance. I love finding new authors to gush over in every type of sub-genre in romance and suspense is definitely not one to be left out! I always enjoy the climatic drama between characters plus the romance is always intense to say the least!

So here we are, discovering a new author to add to the mix of my ever growing list of must follow authors!

One thing I always notice in suspenseful romances is the need to have an alpha-male lead plus the damsel in distress fictional female; not always do I find myself enjoying the female leads when they have this type of characteristic and unfortunately this is one example where the female character irked me. From the moment Anne is introduced she strikes me as this weak, naive, almost inferior character, one that I personally just had a rough time connecting with. I didn't like her meek exterior or her inability to stick up for herself - she was solely strengthen by the presence of Zac.

Oh my though, Zac - delicious. Zac was the only reason I kept it going (that and the angsty drama feels that kept my heart racing). I honestly enjoyed his character more, maybe that is because I like a strong-willed, rough around the edges alpha-male, they always tend to have a little more multi-layer realistic personality. I just enjoyed how he was, who he was and how he tired to better himself. Definitely not what I was expecting.

And though I did not like Anne's character for majority of it all, I can at least say that when she was in a dynamic with Zac I was interested. I liked how they have a connection or rather pull towards one another. It was delicious. Sadly though there was something missing factors I would have like to have seen more of - for starters I really thought there would have been more of a forbidden romance dynamic that played out more strongly. Being the new love interest in your "since dead best friends' husband" life seemed like it should have had a little more omph, more build up, more push and pull on the emotional tugs for the characters. Plus I would have liked to have seen more history of Anne and Zac.

But that drama! Oh my lanta that drama! It was super fun development that occurred between the main characters and the secondary characters. Definitely made everything a lot more enthralling for my imagination as I read through! I am honestly really looking forward to see the possibilities of these other characters within this series...

Overall, I really did enjoy a lot about Cyclone. Though I did not care for certain aspects of the main characters (namely Anne), it was the drama and romance that really made the book entertaining. I definitely plan on continuing the series, I am interested to see where Janie takes these characters!

More of a second chance romance then suspense. It's a token effort at best, and I'm sure most people can work out the who dunnit aspect from the get go. The H was a player and had hurt the h in the past, his grovel wasn't really a grovel but we are meant to overlook it becuase he was grieving, drunk and had knocked his head...erm ok. The super timid h has a character growth arc that's slightly unbelievable and this book lost me at several points where her behaviour just seemed SO out of character.
All that aside, what was overwhemingly front and centre of my mind while I read this was Baby Ballinger, now this guy I'm sure will have his own book, probably down the line becuase enough characters were introduced for this to be a long series. Anyway, he is not even a minor character in this book. His name is mentioned maybe 3 or 4 times, yet I couldn't shake the horror of a grown man being referred to as Baby.

sweet storyline!

Time and fate are two concepts of life that are unknown to all. When these two areas of life clash together they can create such a wonderful life for someone. That’s the feeling I got when I read Zac and Annie’s story. Zac’s personality is a complete 180 from what Annie’s is and it makes their relationship that much better. They make each other better. I loved this so much!

Action, suspense, drama, and a protective hero. This checked all the boxes. It’s the start to a series fill with delicious heroes. And while I didn’t exactly love everything about this book, it got me interested enough to be invested in books in the series that belong to other characters we’ve already met.

This is a story where the main couple have a previous connection. Namely, his deceased wife being her best friend. So it’s kind of tricky situation. But this all worked out in a way where we know that the wife would want them to be happy together. Still a little awkward to think about, but it worked. And I am definitely curious enough about the other characters to continue on in the series.

I'm not sure I would've given him a 2nd chance in the first place. Their history is off putting.
