It felt a little stilted. It was nice understanding how Toby got Goldengreen under control and the back story there was very nice! But, it didn't feel right. It possibly could have been the audioboo, . It was not done well....

Marking as read because I read the only short story I was interested in in this anthology. I Read "Through This House" by Seanan McGuire, a short story a part of her October Daye series.

Checked this out from the library for one story - "Through This House" by Seanan McGuire, from the October Daye series. It's a nice story that fills in some questions in the series but I'm grateful that this was available from the library.

I actually only read the Seanan McGuire story. It's the Toby Daye story where she tries to get Goldengreen to accept her, and it's lovely little story.
I love that Quentin hanging out with Toby and her friends means he gets an education he otherwise wouldn't get; he sees what the purebloods do to everyone else, and he sees how much it hurts them. Someday we're going to learn who his parents are, and he's going to come into power, and on that day, he will be a good man, thanks to what he's learning now.

Read as part of the anthology "Home Improvements: Undead Edition".

Toby, May, Quentin and Danny work very, very hard to convince Goldengreen to accept Toby as its new custodian. It's delightful, it's fun, and it's Toby being her usual inventive and fed-up self.

"My allies are a motley bunch, defined more by their stubborn refusal to stand back and let the professionals deal with things than any other characteristic."

Read June 2018, between "Late Eclipses" and "One Salt Sea."

Checked out the Home Improvement: Home Edition anthology from the library just to read this story-- trying to read all the October Daye material is a little like going on a scavenger hunt! (I don't intend to read any of the other stories, so obvs I'm not going to mark that book as 'read'. Just this story.)

Through This House is 26 pages long and took me about an hour to read (I kept getting distracted).

I'm always pleased to see Danny, Quentin, and May. It was fun getting to read their bantering as they struggled to navigate a resistant Fairy Knowe in the hopes of finding a new place for Lily's subjects to live. Of course, being a Fairy Knowe, it did not want to let them in and fought them every step of the way with false doors and feral pixies and shaking walls and giant spiders.

Also! Toby
Spoiler pushing May off a rocky cliff and into the sea on the off chance it might contain a Fairy Knowe
was the last bit of proof I need to officially sort her into Slytherin house. Welcome to the snake pit, Tobes; it's good to have you.
