One of my favorite things about this novel is its language. The writing is vivid and descriptive and at times, I needed my phone to look up words I didn't know (about 1 or 2 on every page). Having to look up so many words did pull me out of what could have been a seamless story.
I did enjoy it though and liked learning about Hollywood's Golden Age.

The cons: too many long winded descriptors with SAT words that made you have to reread the sentence again to understand
too many characters to keep track of and a random âwhen she was 75, the day before she died she wouldâŚâ peppered in to make you think you missed something in other characters/made it hard to remember what happens to each character
Pros: certain sentences were beautifully formed, I cared enough to go back in the book to answer questions when I finished, the depiction of war time racism, the historical facts weaved into the fictional story
Overall, I enjoyed but I need character summaries to really process. And I canât find them online!
