Unfortunately, I feel I’m going to forget about this book quickly. Although I enjoyed the concept and the ethical questions it raised, most of the characters were forgettable and didn’t resonate with me.

It’s well written, and I wanted to like it more. I know a lot of people have really enjoyed it, but it wasn’t for me.

Something about the second half of this book just completely swept me off my feet, I absolutely loved this book, nothing has made me feel so deeply in MONTHS. The characters were so brilliantly written, the dialogue and the style it was written in was captivating. A wonderful adventure this book was.

As I was reading The Mark and getting into it more I certainly felt more and more drawn in. I was utterly compelled by the end. It is a view of a not-so-distant dystopian future that has a cast of characters that are cleverly and deftly intertwined.

I would definitely seek out more English translations as they became available by Frída Ísberg, because she really is a talented storyteller.

I borrowed this ebook using Libby directly on my Kobo ereader. Support your local library!
