This volume was so sad and dark. The doctor was
using the children to create prosthetics
. Seeing the Phantomhive servants protect the manor was cool though. Seeing the backstory of the circus troupe was quite tragic. Ciel's responses to the events that have taken place make sense due to him never being able to deal with his trauma. Seeing the repercussions from his actions are something I look forward to, especially with the queen.

Hahahaha I just love Ciel!! No matter how messed up he's getting, I'm glad that we're getting a glimpse at his past.
I found it interesting that when he found the factory for the abandoned kids, he laughed at the Circus worker's deaths and persistence at something that no longer existed.
One thing for sure I'm glad about, is that Ciel killed that creepy man they called "father." He scared the shit out of me, maybe because I was reading this at the dead of night or maybe because he cut off his own legs and is only a stump. And I stress this: HE CHOSE TO DO THAT TO HIMSELF.
Creepy.

The Circus Arc ends with this volume and we get to learn more about the Phantomhive employees, aka. one of the reasons I LOVE this arc. It's really sad we didn't get this in the anime until WAY later when they finally decided to animate the actual manga cases. Some of my favorite moments TBH, but it's also mixed in with other histories (that I wasn't a huge fan of, sorry side characters) and ends with lighthearted clothes fitting, which WOW, can Nina make ME clothes?!

Considering the other cases mainly took up only two volumes, this one feels like we're FINALLY getting the chance for a breather, and wow, what a case it was. There were also new characters introduced and a few ominous scenes I'd forgotten! What will happen now that Ciel didn't *exactly* do as the Queen asked?

This has got to be my favorite volume of Black Butler thus far. The circus volumes as a whole are great, but the finale was so intense. It definitely delivered more darker and emotional content, which I was hoping and expecting to see from the get go given the whole premise of the series. It hurt my heart, creeped me out, grossed me out. Just all of the emotions.

I was a little afraid, after all of my excitement from the last volume, that this one wouldn't live up to it. I'm glad to say that I was wrong, because this one was just as fantastic, if not more. Also, I'm pretty sure this is going to contain some major spoilers, so if you haven't read this volume yet, then I would suggest not reading this until you have. Unless you don't mind spoilers, of course.
So the first chapter focuses completely on the Phantomhive mansion, and their servants. And, you guys, I totally didn't see this coming. Because Finn is throwing things around, and apparently Ciel saved him from something, and he has numbers on his neck, and I really want to know what happened to him prior to all of this. (Also, Finn is kind of my favorite of the three, which I haven't stated before. But, there it is.) And Mey-Rin has perfect vision and a bunch of rifles and is shooting them. And Bardroy has some huge special weapon, which makes the most sense, right before Finn. And Tanaka covers for them with Elizabeth, which makes sense. Apparently they're all some kind of warriors. This was kind of amazing, and super exciting, to see. It's very violent and they make a huge mess of the house, even blowing up a part of it.
The one part about this and the next couple chapters...

Can we stop murdering every side character we meet... is that too much to ask?
