NOPE! I hate when this happens. The H is all happy and marries another woman, while the h is broken and a second choice. This is just ridiculous, and it happens in the second book, but I hated the ending of the first book. This must be the worst trope of all, the H's wife dies to give space to h. Fucking ridiculous. I loved still beating from this author, but I think I'm done with her books. I'm furious!!!!

I’ve accepted I will have to go through some emotional distress every time I pick up a Jennifer Hartmann book, and this duet was no different.

Chelsie catches the eye of the lead singer for an up and coming band. Noah, the band’s guitarist, also notices her but more so to keep her from getting in the bands way to stardom. Only his attempts to push Chelsie away only bring her closer. Close to who? Well, Noah of course. Secrets once revealed in the dark are now coming to light and jeopardizing Chelsie’s newly found freedom and relationships.

Chelsie and Noahs enemies to friends to lovers journey made my heart HURT. They fought their attraction has hard as they could knowing they shouldn’t act upon their feeling for one another. Chelsie was in denial of those feelings for so long, thinking she owed it to Devon to say with him and help him when times got tough, but Noah was ALWAYS there for her. All he asked was they she would be there for him as well…something she didn’t know she could do.

This book had so much going on - the angst, the trauma, the emotional turmoil. You know when you read a book that sucks you in completely that you aren’t aware of your surroundings? Well, that was me and this duet. There were times I wanted to shake Chelsie and yell at her but also just give her a hug because she’s been through so much. She thought she escaped a toxic relationship, changed her life and entered a healthy relationship with Devon, but “Not every toxic situation is the same—doesn’t mean it isn’t toxic.” They say old habits die hard and the signs were all there that Chelsie wasn’t as healed as she thought.

4.5⭐️ I was not expecting this to be so good!! I was weary to read this because so few people have. I should have known better. I love Jennifer Hartman and everything she writes.

My emotions were all over the place and I still don’t know how to feel. One minute I was screaming at Chelsie and the next I was crying for her. Immediately picking up the second book.
