I liked both main characters and how they were careful not to move to quickly into a relationship. Narration was marvelous. I won't reread any of the other books again but this one I will. Well narrated

Creepy London fog and family secrets. One of the main character is a taxidermist which was interesting but in general both main characters were a bit bland.

So lovely on a re-read. The autism/dyspraxia rep is nuanced, there's a real sense of time and place, the leads are well-rounded characters with their own issues who nonetheless work together beautifully. I had completely forgotten there's a D/s dynamic in their relationship - that aspect was just a joy to read and repeatedly put a big smile on my face. The crime plot is a little less to my taste and the conflict is a little infuriating, but overall I liked this much more now than six years ago.

Genuinely the second best autistic character I've ever read (the first being fromOn The Edge of Gone by Corinne Duyvis, which is about an autistic woman and written by an autistic woman, almost impossible to beat). It was integrated super well into the story and I'm endlessly glad it didn't fall into the 'weak, submissive, hates to be touched and has no feelings' box autistic characters are normally shoved into. Clem feels like a real person. I recommend getting the audiobook specifically.
