Rereading the comics after watching the first season of Y: The Last Man on FX with Ben.

Comics only review: the art is, again, gorgeous. I think it’s interesting how the writers weave in 2002 data of sexism in hiring in various industries like airplane pilots, military leadership, and prison complex workers. I don’t think the numbers have changed a lot for 2022 in those fields. Some might argue that not many women apply, but I’d argue that an unfriendly workplace can’t attract or retain qualified women.

Anyway, it’s disappointing how easy Yorick is to find while on the run through middle America during the breakdown of communication and society. It makes things move quickly in the comic, but it is suspect. I guess the monkey is memorable. The main conflict between the Amazons and the women in the small town is less violent than one would suspect. What do you think? And the end page is certainly a twist I forgot about.

My husband is into comic books but I usually don't "get" it. This series is a nice way to stay connected to the genre. Interesting story, too. Very feminist. This one has a lot of swearing...maybe necessary to the story but still quite effluent.

Can't remember when I read this but I think it's time for a re-read regardless.

This was a good continuation. The Amazon's storyline was fucking crazy and made my damn skin crawl. Yorick annoyed me a bit in this volume; I wanted to punch him in the face more than a few times. But that ending made me wanting more, so that's something.

Action-packed second installment, but yet it feels like not much happens here, especially on a second reading. Some fine moments, and it is part of a magnificent arc, but ultimately its greatest strength is leaving me slavering for the third volume.

Good but I still have some qualms about the amazons : the fact that they are hungry doesn't justify their 0 to 100 brainwashing...

Once again I loved the realism this time with the prisons : didn't even occur to me that indeed prisons would be undermanned and people would probably die etc. Love when the story involves realistic consequences linked to the plot's premise.

too bad this is where the library collection stops. graphic novels are a great way to while away an unexpected holiday :)

this volume got a bit kinky in spots, but the author seems to know his stuff - shakespeare, politics, classic literature... it doesn't feel like 'just' a comic book. maybe i'll try to get an interlibrary loan.
