This is probably the weakest volume so far. Don't get me wrong, I still liked it, I'm still enjoying the series. But this volume was just a whole lot of set-up for the next big battle with relatively little time with the characters we actually care about and few character moments. Highlights are
Power crashing the car and the old mentor guy plotting to kill Makima
. I think what drags down this volume most is the author's weakness in terms of human character design. Obviously with so many people dying, we need a new stream of bodies to kill, but it ends up in a place where this entire volume I was going, do we know this guy? is this the same guy from earlier? am i supposed to recognize this person? So not only are we getting a bunch of new characters that look similar, but none of them are getting enough screentime to be memorable so they all act similar, and I had real trouble keeping track. The entire Reze arc, I thought she'd have some kind of connection to Himeno, bc they looked really similar too.

A whole bunch of new characters were introduced in this volume. Power crashing
Kobeni’s car
in chapter 57 was so funny. Quanxi is ridiculously strong. I wasn’t expecting there to be a sex scene but whatever.

Makima is getting more and more suspicious. The way every fiend only remembers that Makima saved them kinda makes me think she made them somehow... Add to that the fact that some of the other devil hunters seem to know something about her that we have yet to see... If it's true that Kishibe wants to kill her, there may be a conspiracy going on. Also, she said herself that all the other countries just want to make sure that she is not the one in possession of Chainsaw - why is that important? And what does it mean that the devils in hell who are being reborn hear the Chainsaw...?

Things really started ramping up in this volume and I'm really excited to see where it goes. While this one had action it did feel like it slowed down a bit in order to build to the next volumes which I'm really excited about.
also Power running over one of the hitman was just...amazing.
