Something about this gave me the ick, and I'm not even sure what it was. I was not a fan of their relationship, or him calling her a 'good girl' every few pages. I just...I liked the previous book a lot more.

This one was so much fun, and I loved that I went into it, not wanting to like it. I don't like when the bad guys get a redemption arc. Even though Preston's not a bad guy, he is a spoiled brat who cheated on Cass in the very first book and caused so much drama between Cass and Greg when he found out about their relationship. Preston didn't really get a redemption arc in the traditional sense. He honestly just grew up. He went from the boy who had a huge chip shoulder and was honestly just used to getting whatever he wanted to a young man who had some aspirations and was finally getting his life together. Meanwhile, Sydney's the quintessential good girl. She has extremely strict parents, and she lived by all of their rules in hopes that one day they will follow through on their promises and she can go to culinary school. I loved learning about the dynamic between these two main characters and seeing the story play out. But I wish Syd stood up for herself a little bit more in the end. I feel like the whole book was supposed to be about her learning to do that, and by the end, it works out, but I wish we had a little bit more badassness from her. I also really missed the neighbor/HOA drama that played out in the background of the last four books. It was finally taken care of in the previous book, so we didn't get that extra layer of drama in this one. But catching up with almost all of the earlier couples was a lot of fun. The only one we didn't see in this one is Lilith and her guys. She gets mentioned in one scene, but it was really only stating that Cass wasn't home due to spending time with Lilith.
I'm also curious if this is the last book in the series or if there will be another one.
