I LOVED THIS SO MUCH!!! Honestly, I was extremely intimidated by the size and overall vibe of this book but I was intrigued after the first chapter. The writing is phenomenal, the art is stunning and the characters felt like genuine people. There were many plot twists, actual laugh-out-loud moments and a very unique concept. I'm so impressed at how well done this was and I am incredibly interested in reading Painted Devils. I had to focus in the beginning to get used to the world-building and glossary words, but once I was 10% into it, I could not put it down. I refuse to hear any criticism on this book.

This book kept me hooked from minute one, and offers a deeply relatable and incredibly well-written character for anyone who grew up feeling like they had to look after themselves because no one else ever did.  Exciting, sweet, and a very well written romance arc! As well as solid queer representation written into the world building, which is also just in general incredibly interesting and well done. Can't wait to read the sequel!

Cute! I don’t typically enjoy books about teenagers and I almost DNF-ed it at the beginning but I ended up enjoying it. Definitely takes a minute to get into the story/warm up to the main character, but her voice is fun and the characters all feel very human.

I love high fantasy but get really annoyed when authors build bigotry into the world (like you can write about dragons but people are still sexist/homophobic? Lack of imagination, tbh) so I enjoyed the casual representation here!

I felt like this was a good standalone story but I might pick up the sequel eventually to revisit the world/characters bc they’re so fun.

This book lived up to my expectations. I had a wonderful time reading it. The characters were well-developed and I liked the various relationships. I liked the relationship between Vanja and Emeric. The worldbuilding was good. The plot was a little predictable, there were a few twists that I didn't see, and the writing style was good.
