I like the action in this one. I didn't get enough of my favorite characters and the return of Otto was strangely tame. I liked the new monsters and lore introduced and would have liked learning more about it all.
As always this book left me with lots of questions and wanting to read more!

Every time I see a new LH book, I get momentarily excited, thinking that this might be THE book that goes back to actually having a plot line other than all the different ways you can have sex and Anita fending off people/cops/random baggage claim workers who are offended by her size/gender/sexuality/mojo. Once again, I am disappointed. I feel like LH is using the books as her own therapy sessions, without ever making progress. I don't care who Anita is or isn't sleeping with!!!! I don't care what is happening in LH's actual life. I just want a good story. All this whining and over thinking everything is the same in every book. We ALL know how Anita feels, and I for one, am over it. I guess if I want a plot and a good monster story, I'll have to go back to the beginning. But I think I'll stop somewhere around Obsidian Butterfly. Remember when Anita raised the dead, and had awesome human partners?? Remember when the magic wasn't all about sex?? Remember when the monsters were actually scary??

This series has gone to shit.
What happened to the actual story lines?
All Hamilton writes now is about Anita's sex life, poly this, ardeur that, coddle her lovers, therapy blah blah blah.
I'm done with this series.

WHAT'S GONNA HAPPEN WITH OLAF!!! Hope the next book comes out soon. The dialogue isn't great, but loving the poly development and growth. Anita's overall arc as a character has been pretty amazing, and I LOVE the world.

I love Anita Blake but sometimes the format of build up until the last 10 pages quick ending makes me crazy.

Solid story

I love these books, in spite of and even because of the criticism I have of the turn they’ve taken. This was one of the most compact of the recent ones, with a case that was different enough from the norm that it got interesting.

One thing about the Blake world, it’s fully realized through the characters and that’s an impressive feat. Rather than all the structure of a world, you get the whole of it through the eyes of the people who live it. Doesn’t work for every reader, but it works.

I don't care what you all think, I love this series. However, I am still waiting for some real progression in the Anita/Jean Claude arc. The wedding would be nice since it's been 4 books already.

After re-reading this a lot, I am finding that Nathaniel is really getting on my nerves. Seriously? He's bitching about not getting sex more than twice a day? Micah and Anita are both working a lot of hours and he isn't doing anthing but stripping a couple of nights a week. Literally, he's complaining about not getting enough sex, saying they used to do it twice a day every day. When Micah says that he can't keep up with that kind of schedule forever, Nathaniel say's "I can". I love Nathaniel, but Laurell needs to give him an attitude change or else he is going to ruin the series.

Also,,,, I am TOTALLY shipping Anita and Olaf - Hear me out.... Lion to Call. Saves her from his possible attempts at hurting her, and possibly puts him on a better, less serial-killer path. Plus, honestly, I kind of want to see them do it. Hell, it's a book, I want to see this happen. LOL!
